Introduction to Patent Agent Examination

Who are Patent Agents?

Patent Agents, also known as Patent Attorneys, are specialized legal advisors crucial for guiding clients in protecting their Intellectual Property Rights. Similar to lawyers, they work in private firms dedicated to patent law or within the patent departments of large industrial organizations and public research institutes. A Patent Agent’s daily duties include creating patent documents, submitting patent applications, handling communication with patent offices, and addressing objections and office actions. They also represent clients in hearings, manage opposition proceedings, and protect applications from opposition. These activities demand a deep understanding of technical subjects and legal expertise, making qualified Patent Agents the best fit for the role. To ensure efficiency and professional integrity, the Patent Act has set specific qualifications for individuals practicing as Patent Agents and mandates their registration. Only those meeting these qualifications and registered under the Patents Act can practice as Patent Agents in India. At the National Academy of Law & Management (NALAM), we are committed to providing the necessary training for aspiring Patent Agents/Attorneys. Our programs provide students with the expertise and ethical grounding needed to thrive in this specialized field. They obtain knowledge and abilities that are necessary for success. We’re getting our candidates ready for the challenges of the profession. To promote intellectual property protection and innovation in India is our mission.
